When does the Guild meet?

Our chapter, Kingman Quilters’ Guild, holds the monthly business meeting on the third Wednesday of each month. The meeting is held at College Park Baptist Church, 1990 E. Jagerson, Kingman, AZ 86401

In addition to the chapter meeting, the Arizona Quilt Guild holds an annual business meeting in the fall of each year. Registration information is available on the AQG web site and in The Patchwork Chatter August and September issues.

Can I attend weekly Bees?
Anyone can attend our Bees. Members and visitors can attend the weekly quilting bee held on Wednesday mornings from 8 to noon at College Park Baptist Church at 1900 Jagerson Ave. (see map above). Each person attending pays a $1 per person-per bee charge to cover the facility rental costs. Bring your project (any kind), your sewing machine/extension cord and any other tools you need and enjoy working in a well-lighted area on sturdy tables while you get to know others who share your love of quilting and needle arts. This is also the opportunity to learn something new –members and traveling teachers offer workshops at a reasonable rate.

How do I join The Kingman Quilters’ Guild?
You can submit a completed membership form to the KQG Membership Chairperson at any business meeting. Membership year runs from July 1 to June 30th. Prospective members are encouraged to attend three meeting and then may join at anytime during the year. Membership dues are not prorated.

Do I need to be able to quilt before I can join?
Absolutely not! Anyone with an interest in quilting is welcome to attend our meetings. Becoming a member will make Traveling Teacher classes available to you. These are an excellent means to acquiring the skills for making your own quilts. Chapter meetings also present numerous learning opportunities.

Yes. Registration information and class details (times, topics and supply lists) are posted on the Education Classes page under Events and Programs.

How do I sign up for classes?
Sign-up sheets for classes being offered are passed around during the regular business meeting. Payment for classes must be made prior to the class starting. (Sometimes teachers will hold their list of supplies and provide that to attendees after class fees are paid.)

If it is a National Educator class, a registration form will appear in the Chatter for several issues preceding the class. Fill it out and send it in to the AQG office with your check for the class amount. You will then be sent further information about the class.

How can I get the Guild newsletter?
The Kingman Quilters’ Guild Newsletter is published each month online at www.kingmanquiltersguild.org under the link “Newsletters”. Additionally, hard copies will be distributed to those individuals who do not have internet access. Our KQG Newsletter includes minutes from the monthly meeting, information on upcoming local classes, pictures from Show & Tell, and other pertinent information from our local chapter. Members may submit articles, pictures and other information to the Newsletter editor or assistant editor. Given space availability, the newsletter editor will include as many articles as space and content allow. The items must be submitted by the Friday following the regularly scheduled business meeting for inclusion in the following months’ newsletter.

The Arizona Quilters Guild publishes The Patchwork Chatter monthly from August to May of each year. The Patchwork Chatter contains important information on guild activities such as a message from the president, information about upcoming meetings and events, a listing of Traveling Teacher programs, registration for National Educator teachers and their classes, annual quilt show entry forms, chapter updates, a listing of quilt shows and displays across the state, recognition of member accomplishments, book reviews, and quilting related articles. All members of the guild are encouraged to submit articles, pictures, or information to be shared with other guild members.

Annually a member volunteer takes on the task of ordering shirts for our guild members. An announcement will be made at the regular business meeting when this takes place.

KQG Quilting Activities

Secret Pal
Every year, a new Secret Pal group is established with a volunteer who oversees the program. Participants recognize Secret Pal’s birthday, anniversary and other times during the year with a gift not to exceed $10.

Secret Pals are revealed at the November or December business meetings.

FQ Giveaways
Birthdays
Each member is encouraged to attend the guild meeting during the month of their birthday. Members select a free Fat Quarter of their choice for their birthday

FQ Christmas Baskets
A member volunteer heads up this project each year soliciting fat quarters from members, collecting and storing the fabric and assembling gift baskets filled with a number of fat quarters. Members are given one ticket for every fat quarter they donate. The drawing takes place at the December guild meeting.

Auction
Throughout the year, members donate new or gently used quilting, sewing and needlework items to the guild. Our Auctioneer prepares $2 brown bags each month and members participate in an auction for these goods and brown bags at the regular business meeting.

This activity is used as a source of revenue for KQG.

Block-of-the-Month
Member volunteer(s) take on the monthly task of constructing and preparing instructions for the Block-of-the-Month. Instructions are published in our monthly Newsletter.

Members then receive one chance for every block they submit and the blocks are then drawn for at the regular business meeting.

Other Activities
Depending on member volunteers, other activities are held throughout the year. These include but are not limited to:

Friendship Block Exchange
Round Robin
Brown Bag Challenge
Challenge Quilt
All these activities are chaired by volunteer members
